The Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities at Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET) focuses on the teaching-learning process related to practical aspects of basic sciences and humanities to build a strong foundation as part of engineering education. Established in 2023, the department of basic sciences and humanities is committed to providing comprehensive knowledge across multiple disciplines that form the backbone of engineering studies.

Department of Physics

The Department of Physics, a vital component of the department of basic sciences and humanities, was established in 2023. Dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of fundamental principles in physics and their application in various fields, the department provides a vibrant academic environment for students pursuing undergraduate studies. Physics, often regarded as the bedrock of engineering and technology, serves as the cornerstone for innovation and technological advancement across diverse industries.
The department’s curriculum is meticulously designed to impart theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and critical thinking abilities to students. Through a blend of classroom lectures, laboratory experiments, and research projects, students gain a comprehensive understanding of classical and modern physics concepts.

Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry, an integral part of the department of basic sciences and humanities, was established in 2023. The basic chemistry department is an essential component of many engineering programs, providing fundamental knowledge and skills in chemistry tailored to the specific needs of engineers. Its primary goal is to equip engineering students with a strong foundation in chemical principles and their applications in various engineering disciplines.
To awaken young budding minds and discover their talents both in theory and practical chemistry, the department demonstrates dedication to teaching, commitment to students, and innovative instructional methods. The Basic Chemistry Department focuses on the practical applications of chemistry in various industries and fields. Its primary goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications by developing innovative solutions, conducting research, and providing
expertise in areas such as materials science, chemical engineering, environmental science, and pharmaceuticals.
AIET has excellent laboratory facilities and world-class amenities to learn chemistry, which enhances the learning abilities for students to achieve their goals. The Department of Chemistry is a team of well-qualified and experienced teaching staff members. Faculty members, along with their regular academic activities, have published numerous research papers in various reputed peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, faculty members hold patents to support the student community.

Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics, a core pillar of the department of basic sciences and humanities, was established in 2023. Mathematics plays a fundamental and essential role in the field of science and engineering. The department has highly qualified, experienced, and committed faculty members.
The Department of Mathematics provides engineers with a systematic approach to problem-solving. Engineers use mathematical models to represent real-world systems. Mathematics is the language of engineering, providing the tools and techniques necessary for engineers to model, analyze, design, and optimize systems, making it an indispensable part of the field.
The Department of Mathematics features state-of-the-art laboratories. These laboratories fulfill the requirements of the curriculum as prescribed by the university and also provide additional practical knowledge to enhance students’ skillsets. The department has a well-established computer lab equipped with the latest Mathematica, MATLAB, and Python software.

Department of Humanities

The Department of Humanities, an essential component of the department of basic sciences and humanities, came into existence in 2023. The department engages in teaching English, Kannada, Constitution of India, and communication skills for students. Apart from this, the department conducts special classes in communicative English to train students in English language usage and proficiency.

Course Duration & Eligibility

Duration: 4 years (8 semesters)

  • admission
Second year Pre-University or XII standard or equivalent examination recognized by the University with English as one of the language. Shall have secured a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST) in Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with any one of the following subjects, namely, Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology and Electronics.
Admission to II year/ III semester Bachelor Degree in Engineering/ Technology (Lateral Entry) shall be open to the candidates who are holders of a diploma or equivalent qualification as recognized by University with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST)

Engineering Knowledge

Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Problem Analysis

Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development.

Design/Development of Solutions

Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required.

Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems

Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions.

The Engineer and The World

Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment.

Ethics

Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, human values, diversity and inclusion; adhere to national & international laws.

Individual and Collaborative Team work

Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse/multi-disciplinary teams.

Communication

Communicate effectively and inclusively within the engineering community and society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations considering cultural, language, and learning differences.

Engineering Tool Usage

Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems.

Project Management and Finance

Apply knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and economic decision-making and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, and to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability for i) independent and life-long learning ii) adaptability to new and emerging technologies and iii) critical thinking in the broadest context of technological change.
